Credit Cards Featuring Airline Rewards

Airline rewards credit cards give airline mile (or frequent flyer mile) rewards to cardholders for making purchases with the card. Typically, a cardholder accumulates "points" based on the dollar amount of his/her purchases with the credit card over a period of time. Once a predetermined point level is reached, the cardholder can then redeem the points for airline travel (much like frequent flyer miles).

Recreational travelers may also consider a travel rewards card or a hotel rewards card. Some business credit cards feature airline rewards as well.

Our Assessment:
Airline Rewards cards best suit the lifestyle of recreational travelers who choose mainly to fly to their vacation destinations or for business travelers who commonly fly. These are the consumers who will most likely realize the full benefit of airlines rewards. You may choose a card specific to your favorite airline or our editor's picks, Travel Plus Platinum Visa® Card from Chase,Blue Sky® from American Express, Citi PremierPass(SM) Card, The Miles Card from Discover® Card which allows the consumer to redeem miles on most major U.S. airlines. Airline rewards credit cards are recommended for consumers wishing to leverage their purchasing power into free air travel or upgrades.
